They are the ghosts of those buried in unmarked graves, the victims and prey of vampires in particular. If a ghost is angry enough, wants it badly enough, they manifest a physical form and return as one of the Augury. Augurs are physically stronger than they were in life. They also are nearly invulnerable to physical harm. Their only weakness is their original murderer; only the same person can kill them twice. In exchange for the opportunity to avenge their death and the powers that come with the Augury, an Augur must hunt and kill their fellow undead. Their connection to the Augury is fueled by the blood that they spill. If an Augur does not hunt, does not take the life of undead creatures, they will fade away into nothing. They must seek revenge for all the forgotten and murdered souls, even once they have found their own retribution, if they want to walk in the world of the living evermore.
